Seattle, 30 Years Later
An Evening Arrival, a Full-Circle Journey
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” ― Marcel Proust
My husband and I recently visited our son in Seattle, Washington. We took an evening flight into the city. I snapped a few photos from the plane window.
It had been thirty years since I last visited Seattle. I was a newlywed then, seeing the city for the first time with my husband. I remember how excited we were. Everything felt new.
Now we were back. This time with our daughter. We were flying in to visit our son, who lives and works here.
Funny how life comes full circle.
The sun was setting as we landed. The light outside was soft and golden. The clouds glowed pink. The mountains stretched in the distance. The city slowly appeared beneath us.
Seattle looked both familiar and new. I thought about that first trip. So much has changed. The years have gone by quickly.
It felt good to be back.

Have you ever returned to a place after decades and seen it with new eyes?
